It’s March already! A young man’s fancy and all that…well, how could I not
be thinking erotic thoughts? My brain has been perking along with new ideas
for future books. More about that next time. Right now, I am scurrying to
get the book formerly known as ALL THAT GLITTERS(yes, my editor
called a couple of months ago and told me marketing decided they didn’t like
ALL THAT GLITTERS--I’ve yet to hear the new, allegedly improved
choice) out the door. The first and third stories in it are fine, but my
critique partners tell me the hero in my second story is a GTP (giant
talking penis). Personally, I don’t see the problem (ha,ha) but am striving
to inject the poor man with a personality. But, as my grandmother used to
say, hot damn, he’s sexy!
Saturday, March 11, 2006, I am doing a morning workshop at the West
Houston RWA Emily Award meeting. My topic is “The long and winding road to
publication” and deals with perseverance--of which I am the self-proclaimed
queen. I also will talk a bit about writing humor (I hold the dubious
distinction of attempting to sell Hallmark on the idea of humorous sympathy
cards) and how it blended into my erotica romances and the difference
between erotica and porn. I’m still amazed at how many people--including
writers!--don’t know the difference.
Tuesday, March 14, 2006, my husband and I leave for the San Diego RWA
Spring Into Romance conference(3/17-3/19) where I will be signing
Pleasure Beach, along with Jenny Crusie, Bob Mayer and other authors.
We’re really looking forward to the road trip. Well, okay, maybe he’s
looking forward to it more than I am--bless his heart, my husband loves to
drive my convertible. Regardless, I’m looking forward to it--it’s an
adventure, right?
When we return toward the end of the month, it will be time to update my
newsletter again and I hope to be able to tell you about more sales and
future projects.
